On our way home from a family trip, one of my daughters mentioned getting hungry as we were nearing Ashland, Virginia so I decided it was the perfect time for dinner in picturesque Ashland, where the tracks pass right through the middle of downtown. As soon as we parked, this southbound train with coal hoppers came by. We ate at the Iron Horse Restaurant which features indoor as well as outdoor trackside dining. Three other trains passed by (two Amtraks and a mixed freight) but I didn’t get other photos.
