Longtime readers are aware I put out an annual railroad photography calendar. Normally, I choose scenes along the Norfolk Southern B-Line, but this year I chose to select shots from NS’s (former N&W) Shenandoah Valley Line where I also like to railfan when I get the chance.
Locations included in this year’s calendar include Berryville, Boyce, White Post, Cedarville, Riverton, Front Royal, Warren, Acorn Hill, and Shenandoah, Virginia. Of special interest to railfans, Norfolk and Western Class J #611 is featured on a ferry move as well as an office car special led by F9A #4270. Additionally, the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western heritage unit, Illinois Terminal Railroad heritage unit, and Lehigh Valley heritage unit also make appearances leading NS freights. All seasons are represented in this 12-month calendar, with each month’s photograph having been shot during the same calendar month it represents. Images from this year’s calendar are shown below.
