This past Saturday, I just missed seeing Norfolk Southern ES44AC #8100 (the Nickel Plate Road heritage unit) leading NS train 274. Fortunately, #8100 came back south on Sunday leading train 27A and I thankfully didn’t miss the second chance. Here are a couple photos and a video taken near the Appalachian Trail crossing in Linden, Virginia. In the video, the train picks up speed as it is over the Blue Ridge and descending eastward. Distributed power units can also be seen mid-train at about 2:34 into the video.
